The DS215j also comes with 2 free IP camera licenses and is compatible with up to 10 cameras, making it a well-suited surveillance solution for homes and small offices. It supports up to 10 channels of simultaneous high-definition footage, which can stream at 240 FPS in 720p. Synology Surveillance Station gives the DS215j a full network video-recorder feature set. The DS215j also adds a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface. These performance numbers are a 19% gain in writing compared to its predecessor, all the while keeping its power consumption as low as 13.4 watts in full operation and 5.3 watts when hard drive is in hibernation. In addition, this platform upgrade gives the DS215j the ability to boast average read speeds over 111MB/sec as well as average write speeds over 87MB/sec. The DS215j is comes equipped with a dual-core processor featuring Floating-Point Unit (FPU), allowing for multitasking and multimedia processing.
